Technologies are likely to have more negative effects than positive. To what extend do you agree or disagree?

Over the last decades technology has become one of the essential parts of humans’ life, to the point where it has transformed the way people live. While there is a good argument for saying these advancements have negative impacts on society, I believe that there are more positive effects than negative. One positive aspect that technology has had a great impact on society is how people gain knowledge. In the past, it was rather demanding and time consuming to find appropriate materials which required students to physically go to libraries, search for resources among tons of books and fill out the form by hand. Today, however, thanks to cutting-edge devices the time devoted to home assignment has diminished with students being able access information vie internet at a lightning-fast pace. Moreover, the advances in technology has transformed the way people communicate, it has offered a wide range of methods of electronic communications. People might have the opportunity to feel connected with a person who lives on the other side of the world, which means distance is no longer barrier to be in touch. While technology has provided a great deal of convenience, it has also made people lazy. Having the whole world at their fingerprint, people do not have to work or move around like they did previously to get things done. A sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical activities are mainly due to over-dependence on technology. This is the most evident for young generations who are constantly looking at their smartphones and become cell-addicted. To conclude, although improvements in technology has brought some negative effects on physical activities, having access to educational materials and providing communicating opportunities might outweigh these drawbacks.
