In many countries today, crime TV shows are becoming more popular. Why do you think they are popular? What is your opinion of these shows?

Nowadays crime-based serials have gained huge popularity in several nations. I believe the reason behind this trend is that people find such shows adventurous, however, witnessing criminal acts can create negativity in the minds of the audience. The prevalence of crime-based shows has happened since it provides thrill to the spectators. In other words, these TV serials involve various interesting mysteries in most of their episodes, which enhances the level of excitement among the audience. As a result, people love watching such shows to experience this adventure and gain pleasure. For instance, a report was published in the social magazine stating that 6 out of top 10 TV serials in 2020 in India, were based on criminal activities. Despite the sole purpose of crime based TV shows being entertainment, they can have detrimental impact on an individual's mind. This is because watching other people getting murdered or kidnapped will not only create fear in sensitive individuals but also terrorize them for a lifetime. As a consequence, people may have to suffer from extreme sadness, anxiety and even depression as they may assume that similar mis- happenings can occur to them. Therefore, I think crime shows can be quite dangerous for the mental health of the audience. To conclude, in various nations, TV serials based on crime have become famous among audience as they are full of thrillar scenes, although in my perspective, they can also lead to numerous unfavourable effects on the mentality of a person.
