The pie charts here provide information about the proportion of energy produced from five different sources for the United States in the years 1980 and 1990.
Overall, it is observed that the highest percentage of energy produced was oil, in both 1980 and 1990. In both years, the energy produced by hydroelectric power produced was the same. There was a decrease in the figures for the production of oil and natural gas. However, the figures increased for coal and nuclear power.
In 1980, oil accounted for the highest proportion with 42% and considerably decreased to 33% in 1990, and still remains the highest source of energy. A mere decrease of 1% is observed from the first year to the second year in terms of natural gas.
However, for coal and nuclear power, a significant increase of 5% is noticed.
